Is science game?

Image
science   is   game .   I   always   find   one   line   description   of   thing   is   lacking ;   like   life   is   game ,   chess   is   life ,  p ower   corrupts   etc .   One   aspect   may   be, yet a  whole   picture .   Same   goes   with   science .Still, it is the  most  fun   part   for   me . My   phd   advisor   used   to   say  “ come   on   Gursoy   if   you   dont   do   it   fast   we   will   be   scooped!”  after   our c ompetitors   published   a   new   result.  She is h umorous,  like   her   famous   question   to   me “   what   is   the   color o f   electron ? It should be blue”  I   learn   this   attidute   to word   science for myself .   Scientist   are    trying   to   do   things   to   beat   the  game ,   to  compete with others .   Think  you   are   scavenging   hunting ,   similar !   Of   course   there   are   rules to   this   game ,  first of all,  no   cheating   is   allowed .  The  context   of   science   game   should   be  insi

time dependent Schröidinger Equation

Welcome back! I prepare here an introduction to solve time-dependent Schröidinger equation and added my code at the end. If you are interested more professional resources following link may help Wavepacket Dynamics But less likely you may learn about the details of their code. So here is your chance to start playing one of the most exciting and instructive problem in Quantum Physics. Below you see a wavepacket scattering from a potential at the center of the graph. Cheers! Nebo - First - Page 1 During my research , I have to solve 2D Schroedinger equation both time dependent and independent for specific potentials . In following , I explain the idea behind how to solve time-dependent Schroidinger equation . It is a useful research tool and it is also instructive . One of my research area in general can be categorized as transport in nanostructures . For that I want to solve time- dependent
Greetings! While I was  away from my country I felt all kinds of feeling anyone would  feel outside of his/her country. They were telling me it is culture shock and it is normal. During early years, I had a very lonely live, I could not join to the society. Feeling was mutual I thought , neither I wanted to join in nor they seem to accept me. After years I was able to join friends , house visits, gaming and movie going together. During my early years outside, I used to receive letters from my Cahit Abi.  He used to send me chess problems, games,  math problems, poems etc. We still meet, he is my best friend. We used to talk about making a book about math and chess; never happened. One of the reason I started writing here is this dream we had. Nature, math, chess all connected in my opinion. Some rules exists and  things go accordingly. Moves, events, steps everything connects  logically. To appreciate this connection always makes me happy. To understand how nature works, how you

Introduction

Welcome to my blog ! Hello visitors.  My name is Gursoy B. Akguc. I am an associate prof in physics department of İzmir university of economics. My aim is to share some of my interest with my students and any curious  newcomers. I am new in blogging, so bare with me.  I thought it would be cool to talk about physics mathematics and chess (hence the name)  but there maybe more interesting things to discuss in future. here is my latest paper to check out while you are here: PAPER
