On the last day of 2019 Lets solve some problems so that we prepare for 2019.

Did you know that there is no explicit formula for the indefinite integral:

e - x 2 dx = ?

But we have a value
for definite integral

0 e - x 2 dx = π 2

Do you use the symmetry while solving definite integrals? That is a useful trick; any function can be written as

g x = g e x + g 0 x
g - x = g e - x + g 0 - x = g e x - g 0 x g e x = g x + g - x 2 g 0 x = g x - g - x 2

So that;

Now lets find integral;

- 1 1 c o s x e 1 x + 1 = ?
g e x = c o s x 2 × 1 e 1 / x + 1 + 1 e - 1 / x - 1 = c o s x 2

Now, odd part integral is zero since interval is symmetric.

- 1 1 c o s x e 1 / x + 1 dx = - 1 1 g e x dx = - 1 1 c o s x 2 dx = s i n 1
